About:

Leigh McGarvie received his Masters of Biomedical Engineering in 1989 from the University of New South Wales. In 1993 he was hired at the RPAH as a Biomedical Engineer and continues to hold that position today as a member of the Eye and Ear Research Unit. From 2008-2012 he also worked part-time at the Notre Dame University (Sydney) as an adjunct senior lecturer.

He’s current studies include the development, design and implementation of vestibular test equipment for both clinical testing and ongoing research into vestibular disease. A major thrust of the current efforts is to upgrade the standard clinical tests to incorporate recent advances in both vestibular research and technology and to educate clinicians and operators to recognize vestibular symptoms. He runs various clinical tests on patients of particular interest or difficulty.

Leigh is now working on a PhD titled Causes of poor vestibular compensation to peripheral vestibular loss.
