The Eye and Ear Research Unit (EERU) is part of the Hearing and Balance Clinic at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, run by Prof G.Michael Halmagyi.  The Clinic is a national referral centre for the diagnosis and treatment of patients from all over Australia with difficult balance disorders. The Clinic, comprising a rotating chair/bias lab, 2 caloric labs, 2 VEMP and Head Impulse labs, a human centrifuge, and an Omniax repositioning device, performs over 4000 diagnostic procedures each year.

The EERU carries out basic research into the balance system, and ensures that the most recent advances in vestibular testing are incorporated into the clinical protocol.
