SHFR collaborates with Dr Med Payal Mukherjee from the Institute of Academic Surgery at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPA).

Dr Payal Mukherjee is an Adult and Paediatric ENT Surgeon with special skills in advanced ear surgery. Following her ENT training in Sydney, she undertook a Master’s of Surgery focusing on Cochlear Implant research. She undertook further subspecialty post fellowship training in Otology, Cochlear Implantation and Lateral Skull Base Surgery at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford and the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, London.

She is an Associate Professor at The University of Sydney and the academic lead for ENT research at the RPA Institute of Academic Surgery. Dr Mukherjee is involved in both basic science and clinical research and has been awarded several prestigious research grants. Her basic science work is based primarily at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and the University of Sydney in affiliation with the School of Psychology, Australian Centre of Microscopy and Microanalysis and the Brain and Mind Research Institute. Her main basic science project is about Morphological changes in vestibular tissue in Meniere’s disease. Her clinical works and applications, in collaboration with Kai Cheng are on Augmented Reality and Innovative 3D printing.
